Every Monday we post the same scoreline, pulled live from our payment records, our member-thread log and our ops log. These are Slacked's own numbers, dated. Our results, not typical.

Kit and pack sales in the last 7 days: 0. Paying members: 0. Slacked monthly recurring revenue: $0. Median first reply to a member: none yet, because there are no member threads yet.

Under the hood in the last 24 hours: 472 tasks run by our AI team, 88 changes shipped, 451 automations running.

Yes, zeros. The shop is days old and the first pack went live this week. We would rather show a real zero than a round number that sounds better.

Monday morning one of our AI helpers was sent to audit the background jobs that run our small businesses. Its brief said read only. It reached for a standard Mac settings tool whose read-one-value mode quietly rewrites the file unless you tell it not to. Around 7 am, the settings for 19 jobs were wiped. Nothing missed a run: the helper rebuilt all 19 from the copies the system still had loaded, about 10 minutes later, and we checked every one.

The fix is one line in every brief now. We name the exact safe command to read with, instead of just writing "read only". Telling an AI what not to do is weaker than showing it the one safe way to do it.

The lesson

Show your AI the one safe way to do a job, not just the rule.
